2022. Here we are. Another year gone, another year of mostly bad news, COVID, civil strife, threats of war. However, we are presented with a new year and new opportunities. I wish all my friends across the world a brighter, happier, prosperous, and peaceful New Year. I'll keep on writing. You keep on reading! Cheers.

THE RIORDANS. The Riordan family is at the heart of the series of adventure novels I began to write some years ago. I have had an interesting life and there are many stories I can draw on for my work. As a young man, I fell desperately in love, and that ended in great sadness. I kept this to myself for more than fifty years. When I decided to tell the story, I made it a work of fiction, 'Drowning in her Eyes'. It is partly autobiographical but brings to the page the ending I never had.

Looking over my family's history in this great country of ours, I realised there were many stories to be told, and there began the series of Jack Riordan novels. After the initial work, I used the histories of several generations of my family on which to base my work, beginning with the original Jack Riordan, a poor Irish lad who joined the British Army as a boy soldier in 1825. He didn't know it then, but his life was to be one of adventure and courage, and his legacy in the Australian colonies and elsewhere has been picked up and carried high by successive generations. In peace and war, the ubiquitous Jack Riordans have made notable contributions to the history of Australia.

In each generation of Riordans there is a clever and courageous man. He carries the green eyes of his Persian ancestor and is uncompromising in the defence of civilisation and the elimination of evil, especially that directed at his family.  So, read on. Each book is an adventure by itself, but you will want to read them all!

AND. Thanks to all who took up my offer of a free copy of 'The Queen's Irishman'. I hope you enjoyed it. Now there is some news. The bad news is that 'The Queen's Irishman' is getting to the end of my offer and will soon revert to its usual price. Hurry before it's too late! The good news is that soon another Riordan book will be offered free. Keep a lookout!
